The following experiment features the MCA result processed in the ensemble of a wavelet transform (WT) and the discrete cosine transform (DCT).

The following experiment features the MCA result processed in the ensemble of a wavelet transform (WT) and the local discrete cosine transform (local DCT).

Morphological Component Analysis is flexible enough to account for most classical signal representation in a wide range of signal contexts. The above example features the separation of transient-oscillatory parts in audio signal processing.

In this context, the oscillatory part is assumed to be well represented in a DCT whereas the transient part having a different morphology is well sparsified by a wavelet transform.
